For physicians and the hospital administrators that oversee the process, completing resident evaluations is a tedious and inefficient operation. Physicians must complete evaluations for every resident in their rotation, but since they’re constantly busy helping their patients, they tend to put off this responsibility. This hurts their ability to provide productive feedback, and diminishes the credibility of the evaluation process as a whole. It also creates a messy workflow challenge.

Clear Queue is a technology-based solution that streamlines the process by putting every evaluation a physician needs to complete in a single, web-based location. This helps physicians manage evaluations and more easily track the numerous residents they supervise in a given week, so they can provide thoughtful feedback that helps future doctors grow.

Here’s how Clear Queue works:

New residents register for Clear Queue via our free mobile app or a designated hospital kiosk. After providing their personal information and uploading a picture, they receive a unique barcode that goes on their badge. Each day, the hosting physician scans the barcode of each resident. When a barcode is scanned, it automatically sends an evaluation form for that resident to the physician’s Clear Queue account. As a bonus, this also helps the physician track attendance. When the physician signs into his account, every evaluation he needs to complete will be shown, along with a picture of the resident.

Once a physician completes an evaluation, it is automatically forwarded to the resident’s program director and the department’s administrator. Additionally, the resident is notified via email and/or text. The resident, though, will not be able to open her evaluation until she’s completed her evaluation of the physician. Similarly, the physician will not be able to open his evaluation until he’s evaluated the resident. This incentivizes both parties to complete their reviews quickly and protects the integrity of the process.
